Gail Simone

In the midst of horrible writers like Devin Grayson, I am grateful for Gail Simone.

Her dialouge is entertaining while reamining credulous, and her characters have a resonating quality that screams: I have found these character's voices!

Thank you DC for keeping Gail Simone on Birds of Prey. Thank you Gail Simone for maintaining the integrity of Barbra Gordon and having young children make comments such as "Oh, look. It's half a six pack of hookers."

I wish Gail Simone could write Nightwing too. She never seems to have an issue writing him with his spine intact.

I suppose I should be disturbed by a little girl who talks that way, and yet all I can do is find it amusing. If my dad was the Crime Docter I'd probably be a little brat too.

oh, well, I guess I should start talking that way... I wondered why you spent so much time away, and I also wondered about those strange instruments you kept in the basement. That also explains my sister...

Gail Simone is a godsend! Love her work. What do you think about her getting flack for writing her characters too sexy? She caught a lot of negative feedback for what she did with Huntress and the no name pizza boy too. Ah well, maybe one day she'll hit the big time. Perhaps The Six will be her ticket to the 6 figure salary.

Gail Simone is writing the best group books on the market. DC needs to up the number of years on her exclusive. Best female writer in comics today - hands down - and one of the top ten writers period.

I don't thik she writes her characters too sexy. If both Hal and Dick can have there one year later opening issues be them sleeping with some woman who's name they don't know than I don't see how Helena is any worse. Besides, I think Gail Simone writes strong female characters that maintain their sex appeal without coming across as hookers or scary feminists.

That's pretty funny about Hal and Dick. It's like DC is trying to say, "Okay, let's set the record straight: our superheroes are heterosexual and here's the proof! Well...the jury's still out on Batman but Hal and Dick are as straight as one of Ollie's arrows. And not the boxing glove one either." I've heard women complain about the good girl T&A covers for Birds of Prey and Catwoman. Do you think these covers, which many men would feel embarassed to leave out on the coffee table, keep female fans from trying these books instead of jumping straight for the manga?

Actually, most manga is MUCH more sexually explicit than most American comics (and I've noticed that . So I doubt most women who read comic books from Japan or America are all that bothered by Lois the underwear model or Zinda's school-girl skirt. Honestly I don't think there's anything wrong with superheros being sexy, I think it usually goes along with the whole hero mythos - beauty is part of the package. The only thing I don't get is fighting crime in thongs, heels and in danger of your breasts falling out. I don't care if the girls look sexy but some things are just impractical. Also, one thing to note is that women who are as self-confident as the BoP are probably would flaunt their good looks. If I looked that good in spandex I know I would ;)

You know what's always amazed me? If I were a supervillain, and believe me I'm seriously considering it as opposed to getting a 9 to 5, hitting some woman as beautiful as Huntress or Canary, dressed as provocatively as they are, hitting them just would not be the first thing I'd be thinking of doing. There's just no way I could bring myself to do it. So maybe the sexuality is all part of their plan to get males to drop their guard so they can have fun pounding on thier gishy bits. Odd how a male hero, showing a bit of tantaliziing testicle cleavage, doesn't garner the same reaction from females. Maybe females really are the superior species.

well, as a heterosexual female I can assure you that tantilizing bits of testicles aren't going to get a girl... I don't think men get the "I'm sexy" distration the way women do.

there's actually a D&D style comic that has barbarian women in Red Sonja outfits with there enemy (a guy) in front of them begging to be taken prisoner. The girls are like, "And they said this armor was ineffective!"

It's also true that most heterosexual guys will think twice before hitting a pretty girl.
